Abstract [English]

An important meeting of the All India Congress Committee was held in Bombay on 7 and 8 August 1942, in which almost all the major leaders of the Congress were present. In this meeting, Mahatma Gandhi gave the countrymen the slogan of “Quit India” and the mantra of “Do or Die” in protest against the British rule. Gandhiji had said-
“I want immediate independence, if possible tonight itself before dawn, fraud and falsehood are walking with arrogance. Today I am giving you a new mantra, very small. You should engrave this mantra on your heart. This mantra is do or die. We will make India independent or die in this attempt. We will not tolerate our slavery being made permanent.”
