Ancient Indian art and architecture constitute one of the world's richest and most developed artistic traditions. Its development continued from the Indus Valley Civilization through the Vedic, Mauryan, Gupta, and South Indian Choladripallava periods. Indian art was not only an expression of aesthetics but also a powerful medium of religious beliefs, philosophical thought, social structure, and political power. Through temples, stupas, caves, sculptures, and paintings, Indian society embodied its spiritual and cultural values. This paper analyzes the historical development, styles, techniques, and cultural significance of ancient Indian art and architecture.
