The present research paper undertakes an interdisciplinary and critical study of the interrelationships between contemporary art, culture, and social development. This research establishes that contemporary art is a highly effective medium of social consciousness and the process of change. In reality, contemporary art and culture play a decisive role in the process of social development.
Art is the emotional and creative expression of society. Sociology conducts an analytical and scientific study of society, while culture provides human sensitivity to sociology. On the other hand, sociology offers structural, social, and historical context to art and culture. The interrelationship among all three influences citizens’ overall personality development, both directly and indirectly. Thus, art, culture, and sociology are deeply interconnected and mutually dependent.
Art is the result of human creative power. Disciplines such as painting, sculpture, music, literature, dance, and drama depict social realities. Culture includes religion, values, art, traditions, customs, lifestyles, etc., and reflects the true image of society. In the era of advanced technology, globalization, and digitalization, both contemporary art and culture form the foundational pillars of the functional domain of social sciences. Clearly, the participation of all three—art, culture, and sociology—is essential for holistic social development.
