Music is not only an art but also a living science. Both have been constantly evolving over time, and this evolution has been deeply connected to changes in society, culture, technology, and human consciousness. Art expresses emotions in music over time, while science gives it structure, clarity, and stability.
Music, the evolution of the art form
• In ancient times, music was associated with emotion, devotion, and social traditions – Vedic chants, folk music.
• Classical music, ragas, raginis, and gharanas developed during the medieval period. The use of ragas according to time, season, and emotion demonstrates the sensitivity and scientific discipline of the art.
• In modern times, film music, fusion, experimental and global influences gave a new shape to music.
Development Music as a science
• The scientific study of sound, sound, tone, and rhythm is found in ancient texts.
• Over time, principles such as acoustics, frequency, waves, and resonance were added.
• In the modern era, recording technology, digital sound, audio recording, music psychology, and neuroscience developed.
Interrelationship over time
• The social, technological, and ideological conditions of each era shaped music.
• Art gave direction to science, and science provided art with new mediums and possibilities.
