Abstract [English]

The present study examined the psychological background, psychological skills, and level of participation among cricket players, with a focus on understanding the relationships among these variables. A descriptive and correlational research design was adopted, and a sample of 120 male cricket players representing district, state, and national levels of participation was selected through purposive sampling. Standardized psychological questionnaires were used to assess psychological background and psychological skills, while participation level was categorized based on competitive involvement. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The results indicated that cricket players possessed a moderate to high level of psychological background and a moderate level of psychological skills. Significant positive relationships were found between psychological background and psychological skills, and between psychological skills and level of participation. The findings highlight the importance of psychological preparation in cricket and emphasize the need to integrate psychological skills training with physical and technical coaching. The study provides valuable implications for coaches, sports psychologists, and sports organizations in promoting higher levels of participation and performance in cricket.
