Education plays a pivotal role in national development and social transformation. Ancient India made a significant contribution to global educational thought through a system that emphasized holistic development, ethical values, and the pursuit of knowledge beyond mere acquisition of facts. Rooted in the integration of cognitive, moral, social, and emotional dimensions, the Indian educational tradition aimed at nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of contributing constructively to society. In this context, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 seeks to reimagine the Indian education system by drawing upon indigenous knowledge traditions while responding to contemporary global challenges. The policy envisions an inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education framework that ensures accessibility and affordability across socio-economic backgrounds. By integrating Indian Knowledge Systems with modern pedagogical practices, NEP 2020 promotes learner-centric education, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving skills, and lifelong learning. This synthesis of traditional wisdom and modern educational approaches reflects a balanced and forward-looking vision aimed at preparing learners for the demands of the 21st century while preserving India’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
