Become a reviewer
Review a journal
Have you never written a review for one of our publications before? Here’s what you need to know to get started.

Tips for Reviewing

Performing peer reviews is a great service for the scientific community: a demanding job that requires time and competence, other than honesty and passion.

Editors are always keen to hear from researchers ready to take the next step in their publishing career. If you think reviewing might be the right move for you, here are a few tips:

  • If you have a Reviewer Credits account, complete the “area of expertise” section so that it accurately reflects your field of knowledge. Editors frequently source potential reviewers by searching on these keywords so might approach you with a review request, even if you only have an author account.
  • If you are new to reviewing, the upskill researcher life offers a peer review training course.
  • Look for the Granthaalayah journals with an aim and scope closely aligned to your area of expertise. This will ensure the review requests you receive are relevant.
  • Found a journal that feels like the right fit? Contact the editor directly, explaining that you would like to review for the journal and include a resume outlining your experience.
  • Ask a senior colleague to mentor you as you find a journal and carry out your first review. They should be able to offer you practical help and advice as well as support, when needed.

Why Review?

Whether this is your first time reviewing or you are a seasoned professional, we explain why you should say yes next time an editor asks you to review.

  • Reviewing establishes you as an expert in your field of research – it’s a great way to enhance your academic or professional reputation.
  • You get the opportunity to read cutting-edge research before it has even been published.
  • Reviewing offers an ideal opportunity to exercise your critical thinking skills in a private arena.
  • You can return the favour – you are very likely a published author which means others have found the time to review your papers, now you can repay the courtesy.
  • Building a relationship with a journal editorial team increases your chances of being invited to join an Editorial Advisory or Review Board.
  • You could be recognised for your efforts; every review will be rewarded with a certificate of excellence.
  • Each review you will perform for Granthaalayah journal will be validated by the Editor and will entitle you to virtual credits, which can be used to obtain benefits offered by ReviewerCredits partners.
  • Get official recognition for your contribution through ReviewerCredits. Reviews you carry out will be linked back to your ReviewerCredits profile, making it easy for you to demonstrate your impact in funding and promotion applications.
