Abstract [English]

Art and architecture are said to be interconnected from a long time. Mughal time period has been said to have the maximum art and art influence in its era. The architecture of that time is termed to be marvellous and spectacular. Art is considered something that is unique and a form of self-expression. The aim of this paper is to investigate the geometry used in morphological development of Mughal monuments and in their transitions. Live case study is done to explore the different elements, their geometry, artworks, and materials in Mughal monuments (Humayun’s Tomb and Itimad-Ud-Daulah tomb). The geometrical transitions in different elements of the tomb buildings studied and their interrelationship is then found. Findings shows that these transformations contributed in the development of overall morphological definition of Mughal tomb structures. It can be seen that Mughal era art and architecture made use of geometry in their morphological development. Also, different materials and art forms were used in different architectural elements of tomb buildings.

Ar. Mohammad Amir Khan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Presently he is coordinating M. Arch. (Architecture Pedagogy) course. He is also department coordinator for AICTE & GATE Scholarship matters. Earlier He was an Assistant Professor at MET Faculty of Architecture Moradabad.
He has worked as an Architect at CP Kukreja & Associates, New Delhi and AK Joshi & Associates, Noida (UP) and Worked on Several Educational, Commercial and Housing projects.
He has presented/published various research papers in National and International journals, conferences and seminars. His research area includes:

He has contributed in various national & International conferences/seminars and was the Organizing Secretary of the International Conference on Architecture Pedagogy (ICAP) 2019.
He has also contributed in Architectural Photography. His earlier works have been exhibited in photography Exhibition at M.F. Husain Art Gallery, New Delhi. He is also been part of curatorial team of many exhibitions.
