Mastery of any art cannot be achieved without complete and continuous application of techniques, therefore, art is also considered as full of knowledge, a kind of emotional knowledge which helps in awakening a particular mental state and provides satisfaction. Just as painting, sculpture, architecture, music and theatre also have their own different mediums which are very essential in performing arts.
The art of theatre has been practiced in our country since ancient times which describes real life of a society. Drama is an art which is played in front of the audience that can be seen and heard simultaneously and enjoyed with reality. Visual decoration, to create related environment, is very important that helps the actor in many ways while performing on the stage. The most important function of visual decoration is to provide space for the dramatic action, proper and clear identical space and situation for the theme. As the curtain of the stage raises, the first thing, the audience examines, is the setup of the stage and tries to assume the insight of the play or the theme of the drama. The decorator always tries to ensure and provides with a sense of possible reality according to the content which makes the scene real with people residing in the place rather than the characters of the drama. Some simple objects, elements are also added to the visual decoration which occupy space of the stage to give an impression of the real space and environment. The designer aims to add elements of forms, colours, proportion, expression and tries to underline some internal qualities of the subject matter. The creation of visual decoration should be planned in such a way that it should provide an appropriate location of the theatrical action, full expressions, clear and attractive emotions, practical and integral part of the entire scene, so, while performance the surround stage art could enhance the act of the actor and provides with the suitable environment for the scene. The present paper showcases the usefulness of visual elements in dramatic art.
