Indian culture is the most diverse culture in the world. It symbolizes a diverse culture rich in different languages, clothing, religions, cuisines, festivals, and other activities. When we talk about religion, the image of divine power in the form of various deities starts circulating in front of us, this image starts roaming before us mainly in the form of Hindu religion.
Various gods and goddesses have a special place in Hinduism. Among all the deities, Lord Shiva has a special place in the eyes of his devotees. The marking of gods and goddesses is seen in Indian art since prehistoric times. The marking of Pasupathi Shiva is also found in the Indus Civilization. The wonderful confluence of Indian art and Shiva gives a new form to Indian art.
Lord Shiva is known as creation, power, protection, and transformation. Shiva is considered one of the three most powerful deities of Hinduism. Roop Nataraja, dancing to Lord Shiva, has a wonderful place in Indian sculpture.

हिन्दू धर्म में विभिन्न देवी-देवताओं को विशेष स्थान प्राप्त है। सभी देवताओं में भगवान शिव का अपने भक्तों की दृष्टि में विशेष स्थान है। भारतीय कला में प्रागैतिहासिक काल से ही देवी-देवताओं का अंकन देखने को मिलता है। सिन्धु कालीन सभ्यता में भी पशुपति शिव का अंकन मिलता है। भारतीय कला एवं शिव का अद्भुत संगम भारतीय कला को एक नवीन रूप प्रदान करता है।

भगवान शिव सृजन, शक्ति, सुरक्षा एवं परिवर्तन के रूप में जाने जाते है। शिव को हिन्दू धर्म के तीन सर्वाधिक शक्तिशाली देवताओं में से एक माना जाता है। भगवान शिव के नृत्य करते हुए रूप नटराज को भारतीय मूर्तिकला में अद्भुत स्थान प्राप्त है।
